COMPETITION Terms & RULES

1.   Eligibility:

  • This international competition is open to any trumpet performer between the ages of 18 and 26.

  • The competition reserves the right to request proof of age to verify eligibility.

2.   Required Repertoire/Video Requirements:

  • Each of the three rounds will require the performance of three newly composed etudes. This information will be made available on the registration deadline.

  • Each round will be judged based on video submissions. The videos must be shot from only one angle that shows the trumpet and the performer. No multi-angle videos/montages will be accepted, as that suggests that the video and audio may have been edited.

  • Due to the nature of this competition, please ensure that the video and audio quality is of the highest level attainable.

  • Videos will be uploaded to Youtube, and should be unlisted. The links to the videos will be submitted through separate Google Forms for each round, and information regarding the deadlines for submission will be sent via email to the participants.

3.   Registration/Fee:

  • Registration will be available starting on: Monday, July 4th, 2022.

  • The deadline for registration is: Monday, August 15th, 2022 and an entry fee of $35 must be paid at the time of registration through PayPal.

  • There will be no late registration.

  • The registration fee is to be sent via PayPal to nextgenerationtrumpet@gmail.com at the time of completing the applicant registration.

4.   What is Included:

  • Upon the receipt of the registration information and the entrance fee, the participants will have access to: Four online group masterclasses/panels with our NGTC artists (and social sessions). The sessions will happen over the course of ONE Saturday in early September, with recordings of each session made available to all participants.

  • Access to a private Facebook group to pose questions and have discussions with our NGTC artists (if you do not have Facebook, we will find a way to accommodate you).

  • A PDF collection of all of the etudes written specifically for this competition.

  • The competition itself will take place over three weeks:

    • First Round Deadline: Friday, September 23rd, 2022.

    • Semi-Final Round Deadline: Friday, September 30th, 2022.

    • Final Round Deadline: Friday, October 7th, 2022.

5.   Prizes:

  • There will be three prizes:

    • First Prize of $600

    • Second Prize of $300

    • Third Prize of $150

  • All decisions by our panel are final.
